Caroline M. Bell (1874-1970) Oil on Upson Board, signed lower right, verso reads "Dolly-and off of this picture", piece measures 20 x 24 and 23.5 x 27.5 inches w/frame. Artist was an influential teacher on the North Fork of Long Island. From her studio on Love Lane in Mattituck, and neighboring plein air painting haunts, "Dolly" Bell began taking students in the 1920s. Her influence was felt in the Peconic Bay Area until her death in 1970. Bell painted en plein air on Long Island as well as Woodstock, NY and Rockport and Gloucester, MA.
