Siegfried Detlev Bendixen (1786 - 1864) German - Siegfried Detlev Bendixen (1786 - 1864) Watercolor & Guache on Paper, Signed, Measures ( 17.5 x 13.5 inches ) w/frame ( 19 x 15 inches ) Rare floral still life in the Biedermeier style is by this versatile artist who studied at the academies of Dresden and Munich and apprenticed in the studio of Jacques-Louis David in Paris in 1811/12. From 1813 to 1832 Bendixen worked in Hamburg before settling in London. In close contact with Johann Wolfgang von Goethe, he also exchanged pictorial works for study in 1824-1826.
