Camille Hilaire (1916 - 2004) oil on canvas laid on board, signed, measures 17 x 11 and 24.5 x 18 inches w/ frame. French painter born in Metz, Camille Hilaire worked at "L'école des Beaux-Arts" in Paris and in free Academies, particularly André Lhote's, which had a determinent influence on him. He obtained many prizes and rewards: State travel exhibition, 1947. Venice prize, 1949, Astral prize, 1950; Casa Velasquez prize, 1950; Society Art Amateur prize, 1958. Hilaire participated in numerous exhibition groups, as autumn art, the Independents, May, the Tuileries, of painters witness of their time, etc. Between post-cubism and figuration, his works with bright colors, are luminous. Camille Hilaire represents the nuanced expression of the composition.
