Albert Bierstad/ Louis Prang ChromoLithograph"California Sunset"after A. Bierstadt"California Sunset" painted in 1864 by A. Bierstadt. Part of Bierstadt's "California Scenery" group of paintings. Chromolithographed by Louis Prang in 1868.Depicts a beautiful sunset in the Yosemite Valley, California. Now Yosemite National Park.I am told it is an original lithograph from 1868. Done on 1/8" thick cardboard canvas. The frame also is an original frame.Still has original stickers on the back. One reads: Prang's American Chromos, SUNSET (California scenery) after A. Bierstadt original in possession of Miss Eliza Bierstadt Chromo Lithographed and published by L. Prang & Co. No.1159 Washington Street, ....Boston Entered by Act of Congress, in the year 1868, by L Prang & Co. in clerk's office of the District Court of the District of Mass.The other sticker is a listing of Prang's other chromos available in 1868 and their price.
