Mary Vincent Bertrand (Born 1955) American - Mary Vincent Bertrand (Born 1955) Watercolor on paper, Signed Lower Left, Measures (4 x 5 inches) w/frame (10 x 12 inches) Born in Kaplan, Louisiana of French descent. Mary Vincent Bertrand calls upon early background and familiarity with Acadian scenery to depict the bayous, moss-covered oaks and wild flowers, which have become part of her own impressionistic style of painting. She captures nature in an individual, hazy fashion giving her work the characteristic touch she has developed. Mary entered the art field after working briefly as a draftsman in the oil industry. She has studied under nationally known artists such as Edgar Whitney of New York, Robert E. Wood of California, Henry Wo Yue Kee of Hong Kong, Bud Shakelford of California and John Pellow of Connecticut. In addition, she studied art at Tulane University and the John McCrady Art School in New Orleans. A member of the New Orleans Art Association and Louisiana Watercolour Society, Mary has had several one-man shows and is represented in local and out-of-state galleries.
