Julio Resende (1917 - 2011) Portuguese - Julio Resende (1917 - 2011) Watercolor on paper, Signed, Measures ( 6 x 8 inches) w/frame (10 x 13 inches) Julio Resende attended the School of Fine Arts of Porto, Portugal, subsequently obtaining a scholarship from the Instituto de Alta Cultura. Of the countless individual exhibitions, three anthological exhibitions stand out at the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation (1989), at the National Museum of Rio de Janeiro (1990), and at the Leal Senado in Macau. He was awarded: National Prize of the Academy of Fine Arts; Graphic Arts Award at the Xª São Paulo Art Biennial; and Silver medal at the International Exhibition in Brussels.He is represented at the Soares dos Reis National Museum; at the Chiado Museum; at the Calouste Gulbenkian Museum; at the Museum of Modern Art of S. Paulo; and at UNESCO headquarters in Paris. He was a member of the Portuguese National Academy of Fine Arts and the Royal Academy of Sciences, Letters and Belgian Fine Arts.
