Agnes Anne Abbot (1897 - 1992) American - Agnes Anne Abbot (1897 - 1992) Watercolor on Paper, Signed, Measures ( 9.5 x 13.5 inches ) w/frame ( 13 x 19 inches ) Known for her paintings of New England, Agnes Abbot also traveled West where she painted western scenes, spending time in Colorado Springs in 1929, and in Taos in 1940. She worked in both watercolor and oils, and between 1927 and 1974, had fourteen exhibitions at Wellesley College in Massachusetts.She was born in Potsdam, Germany and grew up in Berlin, where she studied at the Berlin Academy. From 1906 to 1913, she spent her summers on Cape Cod in Massachusetts, and in 1917, she settled with her family in the Boston area and attended the School of Fine Arts and Crafts in Boston, graduating in 1921. Her teachers there were C. Howard Walker, Aldro Hibbard, Charles Woodbury, and Katherine Child. She studied at numerous summer art workshops including Rockport, Massachusetts and Ogunquit, Maine, and made many return trips to Europe.
