Late 19th C Trip Around the World Quilt - American pieced quilt, circa 1890–1910, in the Trip Around the World, or Center Diamond, pattern, composed of hundreds of small square cotton pieces arranged in concentric bands radiating from a central diamond. Worked in an extensive palette of pink, red, blue, yellow, green, brown, cream, and assorted printed cottons. The central medallion is framed by wide yellow and dark green printed borders. Hand pieced and hand quilted. 82 x 83 inches. The reverse is finished with a small-scale blue-and-white printed cotton. With minor staining, fading, and wear consistent with age and use.
