Late 19th C Geometric Scrap Quilt - American pieced quilt, circa 1880–1900, featuring a highly intricate interlocking lattice design composed of hundreds of small geometric pieces in assorted printed and solid cottons. The complex patchwork forms repeating circular and diamond-shaped motifs against a striking red ground, framed by narrow gold and dark green borders with contrasting corner blocks. Hand pieced and hand quilted, with extensive geometric quilting visible throughout. The reverse is finished with a period woven cotton backing. 79 x 77 1/2 inches. With staining, discoloration, and wear consistent with age and use.
