Circa 1860 American Chevron Quilt - American pieced quilt, circa 1860s, composed of five horizontal bands of repeating angular chevron or zigzag motifs, constructed from small geometric pieces in red, blue, green, and tan cottons and set against a red printed ground. The pattern incorporates elements related to the traditional Flying Geese quilt design. Hand pieced and hand quilted. 72 x 69 3/4 inches. With staining, fading, and wear consistent with age and use.
