1880s Nine-Patch Variation Quilt - American pieced quilt, circa 1880s, composed of twenty-five Nine-Patch variation blocks arranged in a five-by-five configuration, each formed from small squares of assorted printed and woven cottons in pink, cream, blue, lavender, gray, and red. The blocks are framed by a striking red printed sashing and wide outer border, creating an overall lattice-like geometric design. Hand pieced and hand quilted. 78 x 77 1/4 inches. With staining, discoloration, and wear consistent with age and use.
