ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: This bold, blue sapphire pendant hangs from a platinum rope chain that is 18” long with a lobster clasp.   The impressively-sized blue sapphire is double prong-set and the pendant is balanced and supported with a strong, petal-shaped looped gallery.  The blue sapphire is surrounded by round, brilliant-cut, diamonds in the lacy patterned halo and hinged pear-shaped bail. The designer, Orianne, has placed her hallmark at the top of the bail.  The genuine sapphire has been treated by titanium diffusion, a permanent color enhancing treatment that is approved by the industry. Titanium diffusion is an enhancement technique that was developed in the mid-1970's to give a blue sapphire a better and more even color. The method does not harm the gemstone. Since the 1990's, diffused sapphires have risen in popularity for use in fine jewelry, and remain so today. Enhancements on gemstones make an amazing piece of jewelry more affordable than a non-enhanced gemstone.
