Hans Hartung, (German-French, 1904-1989) Manner of: Abstract Composition. Pastel on paper mounted to cardboard, signed in pencil lower right, unframed.
Hans Hartung was one of the leading abstract expressionists of his time. His rise to prominence was not straightforward, only gaining notoriety after a solo exhibition in 1947 and the transition to abstract works in the 1950s, but, once successful, he garnered extensive critical acclaim and was awarded the Grand Prix at the 1960 Venice Biennale.
26 x 21 inches board; 23.75 x 19.75 inches paper.
Collection of a California Gentleman.
Condition: Very good condition, small crease lower and upper right corners; grime around edges of the paper.
