WWII Named 502nd Parachute Infantry Regiment Purple Heart Medal Group - WWII named 502nd PIR / 82nd Airborne group from a North Carolina Vet, Corporal Roger J. Smith, wounded early after jumping into Normandy on D-Day. Group was acquired as is all together, and we are not sure why it has an 82nd patch. He was seriously wounded by gunfire in the back resulting in his medical discharge before the war ended. The display case does not come with this group.
