French Frainier Argentan Military Wrist Conversion Pocket Watch, WWI Era. - Early 20th century French Argentan open-face pocket watch, housed in a leather wristwatch conversion strap. The watch features a white enamel dial with stylized Arabic numerals, gilt minute markers, subsidiary seconds dial at 6 o'clock, and blued steel hands. The reverse case is decorated in relief with floral and foliate motifs and marked ”Frainier.” Interior dust cover marked ”DEPOSE ARGENTAN” with maker's device and numbered 691. The leather wrist strap bears a handwritten French military inscription, partially legible, reading: ”Robert Bogier [or Bodier], Caporal, 255 Rég't d'Inf'tie, 18[illegible] C'ie, Classe 1918 [or 1913].” Watch is running intermittently.
