Christopher James is an American photographer, painter, printmaker, author, and educator known for his work with alternative and historical photographic processes, including cyanotype, albumen, daguerreotype, and gum bichromate printing. James is the author of The Book of Alternative Photographic Processes, a widely used reference in the field, and has served as Chair of the Photography Program at the Art Institute of Boston at Lesley University. His work has been exhibited and collected by major institutions including the Museum of Modern Art, New York; the Metropolitan Museum of Art; George Eastman Museum; Philadelphia Museum of Art; and the Museum of Contemporary Photography.
