Susan Friedman is a San Francisco Bay Area photographer and award-winning documentary filmmaker whose work has been exhibited nationally and internationally, including shows in Tokyo, Amsterdam, Berlin, and San Francisco. Her still photography is held in major collections including the Museum of Modern Art, New York; the Oakland Museum; the Santa Barbara Museum of Art; and the Bibliothèque Nationale in Paris. Friedman was also on the Art Department faculty at the University of California, Santa Cruz for 30 years, and her film work has received recognition including a 1985 SECA Award in Filmmaking from SFMOMA.
