Bidspirit auction | Framed Needlepoint Pastoral Genre Scene

Framed Needlepoint Pastoral Genre Scene - This needlepoint artwork depicts a pastoral genre scene featuring two children in 18th-century style attire. A boy in a white shirt and brown breeches stands beside a girl in a pink dress and bonnet; together they support a wooden bucket filled with liquid. The composition includes a well with a gabled roof to the left, a white goose in the lower right foreground, and a background featuring a fence, trees, and a small house. The work is executed in dense, small-scale needlepoint stitching on a textile support. It is housed behind glass with a double mat of cream and sage green. The frame is a heavily ornate carved wood or composition frame finished in a dark brown tone, decorated with repeating scrolling acanthus leaves and floral motifs. The verso is sealed with brown craft paper. A white rectangular adhesive label is centered at the bottom of the verso reading Frames N Things / MUSEUM MOUNTING - CUSTOM FRAMING / OILS - PRINTS - RESTORATION - SUPPLIES / 548 ATLANTA RD. CUMMING, GA 30040 / 770-887-4261. A white paper tag is present inscribed in black ink 14 x 14.
