Two Drawer French Provincial Style Fruitwood Bachelors Chest - A two drawer bachelor's chest in the French Provincial revival style. The piece is constructed from fruitwood or maple with a warm cherry-toned finish and features a serpentine front, scalloped apron, and carved floral and foliate motifs. The top is finished with a decorative molded edge, and the chest is supported by four cabriole legs. The two drawers are constructed with machine-cut dovetail joints and retain their original ornate cast metal bail pulls with decorative backplates in an antiqued brass finish. The back of the piece consists of a dark composite panel secured with staples. The rear panel is marked with black stenciled characters reading 2068-253, CHEST, and LOT8-JDB1 (photo 14). A separate paper tag identifies the dimensions. 40 x 20 x 26 inches.
