Day and Haghe Hand Colored Botanical Lithograph Plate 11 - This hand colored lithograph on paper features a detailed botanical arrangement of five flower varieties, including shades of deep purple, blue, and white. The print is inscribed at the bottom with a numerical key for the species, identified as 1. Mathiola annua var striata, 2. Mathiola annua var purpurea fl. pl., 3. Mathiola annua var. alba fl. pl., 4. Mathiola annua var. lateritia fl. pl., and 5. Malcomia maritima. Below the botanical names, a printed inscription reads Day and Haghe Lithrs to the Queen. The upper right corner of the sheet is marked Pl. 11. As a lithograph, the print lacks a plate mark, which is consistent with this planographic technique. The impression is clear, showing the fine details of the petals and stems. The work is professionally presented in a triple mat consisting of a gold toned inner slip, a thin pink fillet, and a wide gray sueded mat. It is housed in an ornate gilt gesso and wood frame featuring scrolled foliate patterns. A white adhesive tag with a brown reinforcement ring is shown being held by a hand, reading 18.75 x 22.25. Framed dimensions: 18.75 x 22.25 inches (measured from tag in photo 10).
