A Six-Piece Middletown Plate Co. Silver-Plated Tea and Coffee Service with Masterpiece Dishes - A six-piece silver-plated tea and coffee service with matching accessory dishes. The service is designed in the Victorian Rococo Revival style, characterized by bulbous bodies, ornate scroll-work handles with dark insulators, foliate-cast feet, and decorative floral finials. The collection consists of a coffee pot, a teapot, a lidded sugar bowl, a creamer, and two leaf-shaped condiment or nut dishes. The underside of the coffee pot, teapot, sugar bowl, and creamer bears four impressed rectangular stamps in a row: an uppercase letter ”W”, an eagle in profile facing right, a lowercase letter ”m”, and a crown. Below these marks is a larger, separate stamp of a Gothic-style letter ”m” contained within a decorative shield. These are the trademarks of the Middletown Plate Co. The underside of the leaf-shaped dishes is stamped with ”Masterpiece” in cursive script above ”SILVERPLATE” in all-capital block letters, accompanied by a logo featuring three birds. Dimensions: Approximately 26 inches total width as displayed.
