American Albany Slip Glazed Stoneware Shoulder Jug - This American stoneware shoulder jug is crafted in a cylindrical form that tapers to a rounded shoulder and a short, narrow neck. A thick loop handle is applied from the neck to the shoulder. The vessel is finished in a glossy, dark brown slip glaze known as Albany slip. Near the base of the jug, a single capital letter A is impressed into the clay. The flat underside reveals the coarse texture of the clay body and the traces of the manufacturing process.
