A Pair of Hand-Painted Glazed Ceramic Clown Figurines - A pair of hand-painted glazed ceramic figurines depicting whimsical hobo-style clown characters. The first figure features a clown organ grinder leaning his elbow on a yellow and red street organ. He wears a tall red top hat, a blue jacket with a light blue scarf, and grey trousers with a patch on one knee. A small brown monkey wearing a red hat is perched on his right shoulder. The second figure is a clown balloon seller carrying a cluster of six large, multi-colored balloons in yellow, red, orange, green, and blue. He is attired in a black top hat, a large red bow tie, a yellow jacket, and brown trousers. Both figurines are set upon bases textured and painted to resemble grassy mounds. The undersides of each base are covered with blue protective felt, which obscures the ceramic surface. No maker's marks, factory stamps, signatures, or model numbers are visible on the exterior of the pieces. Organ Grinder Clown: 8.5 inches high, 5 inches wide. Balloon Seller Clown: 8.25 inches high, 5.5 inches wide including balloons.
