Hekman Burl Mahogany Serpentine Chest of Drawers with Green Marble Top - An American-made serpentine-front chest of drawers produced by Hekman Furniture, constructed from mahogany with book-matched burl wood veneers on the drawer fronts. The chest features four graduated, full-width drawers built with machine-cut dovetail joints and light-colored hardwood secondary wood. It is topped with a removable Verde Antique green marble slab with a shaped edge. Decorative elements include a carved foliate leaf-and-vine border running along the top rail and four prominent ogee bracket feet supporting the base. The hardware consists of eight brass-finished bail pulls with stamped decorative backplates in the Chippendale style. A silver-toned rectangular metal label is affixed to a drawer interior, reading HEKMAN, Lexington, N.C., Grand Rapids, MI. U.S.A. 45.5 x 21 x 38 inches.
