Hand-Colored Print of an 18th-Century Style Fan Leaf, Éventail - This hand-colored print, titled Éventail, depicts an ornate folding fan leaf rendered in the 18th-century French Rococo style. The central vignette features a fête galante scene with figures in period dress congregating in a park setting around a classical fountain, overseen by hovering cupids. The fan sticks and guards are depicted with intricate openwork, foliate motifs, and vignettes, all set against a deep blue ground. The print is housed in a substantial, ornate gilt-composite frame with elaborate floral and scrollwork moldings. It is triple-matted with a beige fabric-covered outer mat, a dark blue middle mat, and a thin white inner mat. The title Éventail is printed in a stylized script centered in the lower margin. In the bottom right corner of the margin, a series of characters is finely inscribed as L.B.d.G.N.2. The reverse is finished with brown backing paper and a wire for hanging. 26 x 21
