Huet Hand Colored Engraving Eventail - A hand colored engraving titled Eventail, depicting an 18th century courtly ball scene arranged in the shape of an open fan. The central image shows multiple figures in Rococo period dress engaged in a dance, surrounded by musicians in a balcony and various onlookers. The lower section of the print illustrates the pleated folds and decorative sticks of a fan. The work is inscribed in the lower left Huet f. and in the lower right L.B. d'ap. C.H. 1. The title — Éventail — is centered at the bottom of the sheet. The print is set within a deep blue mat followed by a tan linen mat and is housed in a large, ornate gilt composition frame decorated with acanthus leaf and scroll motifs. The back is sealed with brown paper and includes a hanging wire. 26 x 21 inches (frame).
