Hand Painted Porcelain Rose Still Life in Ornate Gilt Frame - A framed hand painted porcelain plate featuring a floral still life arrangement. The composition depicts several roses in shades of yellow, cream, and reddish-brown, accented by green leaves and delicate sprigs of purple blossoms. The flowers are set against a soft, blended blue and grey wash background. The porcelain is mounted in a heavy, ornate square frame with a circular spandrel. The frame features scrolled acanthus leaf corner flourishes and a rope-twist border surrounding the central opening, finished in a metallic copper or bronze tone. The verso of the frame is painted gold and bears several handwritten notations in black ink including 552 / 18 X 18 / 2047 and 91/H. A white paper tag attached to the piece is also marked 18 x 18 in black ink. The white porcelain plate has a scalloped edge and is held in place by three adjustable metal clips. No artist signature or manufacturer marks are visible on the front or back of the plate. 18 x 18 inches.
