Bidspirit auction | Large Rococo Style Carved Wood

Large Rococo Style Carved Wood Trumeau Mirror with Inset Landscape Painting - Large trumeau style wall mirror featuring a hand carved wooden frame in the Rococo taste. The frame is finished in a dark brown tone with intentional heavy distressing and a fine craquelure effect throughout to simulate an antique appearance. Decorative elements include scrolling acanthus leaves, C-scrolls, and a prominent central rocaille shell carving that serves as a divider between the upper and lower sections. The upper section contains an inset oil on canvas landscape painting depicting a rutted dirt path winding through a wooded area toward a distant horizon under a cloudy sky. The painting shows a fine network of craquelure consistent with the aged aesthetic of the piece. The reverse of the canvas features a circular stamp reading Handpainted Authentic with the handwritten number 149411. Several white adhesive inventory labels are present on the back of the frame, including one marked XAN962A825 #7-X TREM with a handwritten 12/00 date, and another marked 27E225/PY-T-L-LS-XP7. 31.5 x 72 inches.
