A Pair of Japanese Mixed Metal Chokin Vases with Landscape Decoration - This matching pair of Japanese mixed-metal bud vases is executed in the chokin style, featuring engraved and metallic overlays. Each vase is constructed with a baluster-form body, a high rounded shoulder, and an elongated flared neck. The decoration consists of a traditional mountainous landscape scene including a multi-roofed architectural structure, rocky cliffs, and peaks rendered in contrasting gold and silver-toned metals. This scene is set against a dark, near-black patinated ground. The reverse of each vase is plain, showing the smooth finish of the patinated metal. The interior of the necks reveals the light-colored natural metal of the casting. The underside of the base is stamped with the block letters JAPAN. Height: 6 inches.
