Waterford Large Cut Crystal Rose Bowl, Glandore Pattern - A large clear lead crystal rose bowl manufactured by Waterford Crystal in the ”Glandore” pattern. The piece features a squat, globular form with a wide, flaring neck and a deeply scalloped (ruffled) rim. The decorative scheme consists of a lower field of dense diamond-cut cross-hatching, surmounted by a horizontal band of oval ”lens” or ”olive” cuts. The neck is decorated with vertical pillar fluting, and the base features a multi-point star-cut bottom. Identification is confirmed by the authentic Gothic ”Waterford” acid-etched maker's mark on the underside of the base. This example is a larger, more substantial version than typical examples, measuring approximately 8 inches in height and 9 inches in diameter at its widest point. Valuation basis: recent auction sales of large-format Waterford crystal bowls in the Glandore pattern and the item's excellent condition.
