Trouvailles Continental Style Serpentine Burl Walnut Veneer Three Drawer Chest - A 20th-century serpentine-front chest of drawers, also referred to as a bachelor chest or petite commode, manufactured by Trouvailles, Inc. The chest is constructed in the 18th-century Continental style with a shaped front and side panels. The exterior is finished in mixed wood veneers featuring parquetry and burl wood panels. The top surface displays a central burl wood veneer panel within a shaped, cross-banded border. The case contains three full-width drawers with serpentine fronts. The drawer interiors are finished with a floral-patterned paper liner. Each drawer is fitted with two cast metal drop-pull handles on decorative backplates with a dark, patinated finish. The chest is supported by a shaped base with bracket feet. A paper label on the reverse side identifies the maker as Trouvailles of Watertown, Massachusetts.
