Lithograph of Original Washington Monument Design. - Architectural lithograph of the original 1845 design proposed by Robert Mills, Architect, with facsimile signatures of many presidents and politicians. Presented to Moses Paul, Esq. in 1850 for his donation toward the construction of the monument. The circular colonnaded building at the base of the original design was eliminated because of expense and only the obelisk was built. Frame 29.75 inches by 22 3/8 inches, sight 25.5 inches by 18 inches.
