18th Century New England Side Chair. - Maple. Retains both Queen Anne and William & Mary characteristics. Yoke crest, canted back vase-shaped splat fits into high seat rail with shoe. Square stiles extend to square legs which rake back slightly. Block and vase turned front legs end with button feet and pegged into overhung front seat rail. Front stretcher turned with central bulbs and rings. Two side stretchers and one in back, turned with thimble ends. Rush seat. Stripped and covered with shellac. Seat height 17 inches, overall height 40.5 inches.
