[FRENCH NAPOLEONIC UNIFORMS]. Collection des Uniformes des Armees de françaises
[FRENCH NAPOLEONIC UNIFORMS.] Collection des Uniformes des Armees de françaises, de 1791 a 1814. Paris 1822. Large quarto. Half-title, 100 hand-colored, lithographed plates as issued, plus 1 additional hand-colored lithographed plate loosely inserted with descriptive text in French on opposite page from each plate. Original morocco-backed marbled boards, small nick and wormhole at head of spine, slightly rubbed. Preliminaries lightly foxed, some marginal worming near spine, occasional spotting, a few pages lightly water-stained on margins; pages bright and clean with good color to plates. An important collaboration between noted French military artists Horace Vernet (1789-1863) and Eugene Lami (1800-1890), depicting French military dress between the Revolution and the First Restoration. [Colas 2987.] Rarely encountered intact.
