Detailed rendering of the buildings, gardens and surrounding woods of the Western Maine Sanatorium, Hebron, Maine, inscribed “Western Maine San., Greenwood Mt., J. A. Crichton†lower right, dated May 10, 1942, lower left, watercolor on paper, 8.75 x 11.75 inches. The Western Maine Sanatorium was opened in 1904 for the treatment of patients with tuberculosis and operated until 1959. John Calvin Stevens and John Howard Stevens designed some of the campus.
