Other scholars has questions as to this attribution and the lack of provenance. This tin type was bought at a consignment mall south of Atlanta near Griffin GA. Since the early 1990s this has resided in a private Georgia collection. We and others have come to tentatively attribute this photo to ”Doc” Holliday a famous Wild West Gambler who is from Griffin Georgia. This is a amazing piece of America Wild West imagery and has five of his associates with him. This is the correct time period of a young Doc Holliday. This photo is a 4” x 2 1/2” ferrotype, colloquially referred to as a tintype photo. One of the most popular styles of photograph dating from this period of activity for John ”Doc” Holliday. Based off what images are known and documented and his known associates are available to view on various internet sites. In addition to ”Holliday” ?, three other in the photograph are possible matches based off performing a close facial analysis. One - Charlie Bassett (left front row), John Joshua Webb center front row, and Texas Jack Vermillion back row left.
