Stunning "Samuel Duncan" Randolph Co. 3gal Jug
Stunning "Samuel Duncan" of Randolph Co. Three gallon Jug. Just Wow, Wow, Wow. This is one of hands down the finest jugs from Randolph Co. Alabama to cross the block at Cagle Auction & other auctions in some years. The jug is just electric with a lime green alkaline glaze and heavy Iron Burst spots in the glaze that just give stellar eye appeal. Classic Samuel Duncan handle and terminal with period correct tooled mouth. Also reference Alabama Folk Pottery by Joey Brackner, page 103. Noted Edgefield potters that migrated to Coweta County Georgia in 1828 and sometime till the early 1830's. Then shown in the federal census in 1840 in Randolph County Ala. This jug is circa 1845-50's and is a leading example in Alabama stoneware for utilitarian stoneware. One would challenge to find a finer example in glaze. Condition none better - Mint, No chips, cracks or repairs, fresh to the market example. Standing 15" Tall
Condition: Gem Mint. None Better! Simply find another one.
