Bidspirit auction | Soviet Naval Guards Ensign Dated
Soviet Naval Guards Ensign Dated 1981 - A Soviet Naval Ensign of the Guards variant, featuring a white bunting field with a blue horizontal stripe along the bottom edge. The upper field displays a large red five-pointed star and a red hammer and sickle emblem. Below these symbols is a sewn-on Guards ribbon patch, characterized by three black and two orange longitudinal stripes, signifying the vessel or unit achieved elite Guards status. The flag is constructed from a coarse woven cotton or linen blend bunting, with a heavy gray linen canvas hoist sleeve containing a rope channel. The fly end is reinforced with multiple rows of diagonal stitching to prevent fraying during use. The gray canvas hoist features several legible red ink stamps. A manufacturer stamp identifies the maker as Galantereynaya Fabrika (Haberdashery Factory) followed by the characters F-KA. A standard marking indicates the flag was manufactured according to the Soviet state technical standard GOST 4408-73, followed by the date 1981g. A circular stamp is also present on the hoist, but the characters within it are not clearly legible. Width: 35 inches Length: 53 inches.
