WWII U.S. Navy VF-44 Fighter Squadron Patch - World War Two U.S. Navy VF-44 squadron patch. The patch is schiffli embroidery on wool. Measures 5.25″ x 4″. Established as Fighter Squadron Forty Four (VF-44) on February 1, 1944. The insignia was approved by the Office of Chief of Naval Operations – CNO on August 24, 1944. VF-44, nicknamed “The Crusaders”, was equipped with the Grumman F6F-5 Wildcat and the F6F-5/5P Wildcat. They were deployed on the USS Cabot and the USS Langley. Flew in the Philippine Campaign. Pickup is Monday, Nov. 9, from 11 am to 7 pm at our facility in Lancaster, OH. Alternate pickup day is available by appointment for a $5 fee per lot, or we will provide in-house shipping for this item.
