Bidspirit auction | P. Kane Full-Stock Percussion Long

P. Kane Full-Stock Percussion Long Rifle .35 Caliber with 39 Inch Barrel - A 19th-century American percussion muzzleloading long rifle, manufactured by gunsmith P. Kane of Laurelville, Ohio. The firearm is built with a 39-inch octagonal barrel chambered in approximately .35 caliber, featuring a heavy brown patina and scattered surface oxidation. The top flat of the barrel bears the incised marking P. KANE. The rifle is constructed with a full-length tiger maple stock, characterized by a prominent cheekpiece and a relief-carved volute scroll design on the left side of the buttstock. The furniture consists of brass components, including a crescent buttplate, a decorative trigger guard, a sideplate, and ramrod pipes. The lock plate features decorative engraving and is paired with a double-set trigger assembly. Overall length is approximately 54 inches. Older wood repairs are visible at the wrist and around the lock area, and one screw is missing from the brass toeplate. A wooden ramrod is included. The action appears to function, though the firearm has not been function-tested for safety or firing. This item is a pre-1899 antique firearm (manufactured in or before 1898) or a qualifying black-powder firearm, and does not require an FFL or background check under federal law.
