Antique Montgomery Ward Wooden Collar Box with Gutta Percha Lid - An antique wooden collar box produced for Montgomery Ward featuring a square wooden body with a molded gutta-percha composition lid. The lid is decorated in relief with a central oval medallion depicting a fanned arrangement of four playing cards representing the Aces of Spades, Hearts, Diamonds, and Clubs. This central image is bordered by scrollwork and a wreath in each corner enclosing a card suit symbol. The wooden exterior has a distressed yellow-toned painted finish and the interior of the lid is lined with blue paper. The box is constructed with two metal butt hinges and a front latch.
