* Smith & Wesson Model 1917 Double Action Revolver .45 Cal with 5.5 Inch Barrel - This is a Smith & Wesson U.S. Army Model 1917 double-action revolver chambered in .45 caliber, outfitted with a 5.5-inch barrel. Historically significant as a supplementary sidearm for U.S. forces during World War I, this model was designed to fire the rimless .45 ACP cartridge using half-moon clips. The firearm retains its fixed half-moon front sight and frame-notched rear sight. The metal surfaces display a dark, heavy patina with widespread surface oxidation and areas of fine pitting across the frame, cylinder, and barrel. It is fitted with non-original, aged aftermarket grips made of a yellowish synthetic or natural substitute material that exhibits a prominent network of surface crazing. Key markings include the barrel designation S. & W. D.A. 45 on the left side. The butt of the grip frame is clearly stamped with U.S. ARMY MODEL 1917 on the left and the serial number No 136 154 on the right. Additional assembly or part numbers 15334 and 9 4 2 1 are visible on the crane and frame, accompanied by a small circular proof mark. In house shipping is available.
