James G. Biddle Co. Series I Megger Insulation Testing Set Catalog No. 638MD - This Series I Megger insulation testing set is a professional electrical diagnostic instrument manufactured in England for the James G. Biddle Co. of Plymouth Meeting, Pennsylvania. The instrument is housed in a polished wooden cabinet with black-finished metal faceplates and bakelite control knobs. It features an integrated electric motor unit and is designed for both hand-crank and motor-driven operation, complete with a red leather carrying strap. The faceplate is clearly marked with Series I Megger Testing Set and Trade Megger Mark. Identification plates specify British Patent No. 632465, U.S. Patent No. 2606230, Catalog Number 638MD, and Serial Number 2214278. The analog meter provides measurement scales for up to 50,000 megohms and 2,500 volts. The set is contained within a large, protective wooden transport chest with metal hinges and latches. A Biddle Instruments calibration sticker is present on the instrument face, dated April 8, 1991.
