A Collection of Seven Vintage Outside Micrometer Calipers by Starrett, Lufkin, and Brown and Sharpe - An assortment of seven vintage outside micrometer calipers intended for precision measurement in machining and industrial applications. The collection includes tools from three prominent American manufacturers: L.S. Starrett Co., Lufkin Rule Co., and Brown and Sharpe. The Lufkin Rule Co. micrometer features a large, green-painted cast frame designed with seven circular weight-reduction holes. It bears a metal plate stamped: THE LUFKIN RULE CO. / SAGINAW, MICH. / MADE IN U.S.A. / No. 1911. There are five L.S. Starrett Co. micrometers with black-finished cast frames in various sizes. Several frames are inset with metal labels reading STARRETT. Specific model and size marks visible on these labels include 1IN. No.436-1N, 2IN. No.436-2N, and 3IN. No.436-3N. The sleeves and thimbles feature standard vernier scales graduated in thousandths of an inch. One micrometer barrel is stamped BROWN and SHARP (with the final E obscured) and includes patent information reading PAT. 1,62 followed by numerical markings 67, 0, and 5. The frames are constructed of cast metal with either black enamel or green crinkle finishes. Functional components including the spindles, anvils, sleeves, and thimbles are made of polished steel. The thimbles feature knurled grips for manual adjustment. The collection covers various measurement ranges including 0-1 inch, 1-2 inches, 2-3 inches, and one larger unit.
