A Collection of Volumes on American and International Railroad History. (DJ) - This collection of railroad history literature features a selection of scholarly and pictorial works. The group includes Henry B. Comstock, The Iron Horse: America’s Steam Locomotives: A Pictorial History, a large-format hardcover with its original dust jacket containing illustrations of various steam locomotives. Also present is Early American Railroads: Franz Anton Ritter von Gerstner’s Die innern Communicationen (1842-1843), translated by David J. Diephouse and John C. Decker, published by Stanford University Press in hardcover with a dust jacket. The collection features a specialized academic volume, Russia Enters the Railway Age, 1842-1855 by Richard Mowbray Haywood, bound in publisher's blue cloth. Additionally, there is a softcover journal titled Railroad History 150 (Spring 1984) published by The Railway & Locomotive Historical Society, Inc., which displays a color cover illustration of the Philadelphia locomotive and bears a mailing label for David J. Knapp of Loveland, Ohio. Tucked inside the journal is a member exclusive informational sheet regarding the Sandy River and Rangeley Lakes Railroad, Number 10. Pickup is Friday, July 31, from Noon to 7 pm at our facility in Lancaster, OH. Alternate pickup day is available by appointment for a $5 fee per lot or we will provide in-house shipping for this item.
