Antique Haudenosaunee Iroquois Raised Beadwork Floral Whimsey - This late 19th to early 20th-century decorative souvenir beadwork item, commonly referred to as a whimsey, is attributed to Haudenosaunee (Iroquois) artisans for the Victorian-era tourist trade. The piece is constructed on a red velvet ground and features elaborate clear and translucent white glass seed beads applied in a raised or embossed technique. One side displays a large central flower motif surrounded by leaves, while the reverse features a cluster of four smaller circular floral or bud forms. The entire perimeter is finished with a light-colored fabric binding and multiple rows of glass seed beads. A small purple silk ribbon loop is attached at the top for hanging, and the piece is backed with a tan-colored fabric. Width: 4 inches Height: 4 inches. Pickup is Friday, July 31, from Noon to 7 pm at our facility in Lancaster, OH. Alternate pickup day is available by appointment for a $5 fee per lot or we will provide in-house shipping for this item.
