Vintage Cram's Imperial Terrestrial World Globe on Gold-Tone Metal Stand - This is a vintage terrestrial world globe produced by The George F. Cram Company, Inc. of Indianapolis, Indiana. The globe features a 12-inch diameter orb made of printed paper over a structural core with a protective finish. The cartouche is printed with a red crown logo and reads: Cram's IMPERIAL 12 inch WORLD GLOBE Copyright by THE GEORGE F. CRAM COMPANY, INC. INDIANAPOLIS 6, IND. The use of a single-digit postal zone indicates a manufacture date prior to the introduction of five-digit ZIP codes in 1963. Cartographic features, including the labeling of the Central African Republic and the Federation of Rhodesia and Nyasaland, suggest a production date of approximately 1960. The map depicts blue oceans with labeled ocean currents and major shipping routes with distances. The landmasses are colored to show political boundaries of the era. The orb is mounted in a full 360-degree metal meridian ring graduated in degrees of latitude. A metal time dial is located at the North Pole, marked for A.M., P.M., and Noon hours. The assembly is supported by a tiered, circular metal base with a brushed gold-tone finish. Globe Diameter: 12 inches Overall Height: Approximately 16 inches.
