A Collection of American Encaustic Tiling Company Architectural Ceramic Tiles - A collection of architectural ceramic tiles produced by the American Encaustic Tiling Company (AETCO). The assortment includes three distinct types of tiles. There are square Alhambra tiles featuring an encaustic inlay decoration where pink clay is set into a cream-colored body to create a scrolling foliate and mosaic-style pattern. The reverse of these tiles is impressed with the mark TRADE ALHAMBRA MARK inside a notched frame above AMERICAN / ENCAUSTIC TILING CO. / LIMITED / NEW YORK. The collection also includes two square high-relief tiles with a molded rose and leaf design finished in a translucent olive-brown glaze. Additionally, there are rectangular Hermosa subway tiles with a smooth, monochrome cream-colored glaze. The reverse of the rectangular tiles bears the impressed marks HERMOSA and A.E.T. CO. along with the numeral 3. Square tiles: 6 inches x 6 inches Rectangular tiles: 6 inches x 3 inches. Burns in-house shipping is available. Pickup is Friday, June 26 from 10 am to 5 pm at our gallery in Lancaster, Ohio 43130 or we will provide in-house shipping for this item.
