Large Collection of American Freedom Train Bicentennial Commemorative Medals - A large collection of bronze-tone commemorative medals produced for the American Freedom Train tour celebrating the United States Bicentennial, circa 1975-1976. Each medal is housed in its original clear plastic pouch, stapled to a white cardstock display header. The headers are printed in blue and red with a stylized locomotive logo and the text American Freedom Train, T.M., and A Moving Monument to American History. The medal obverse features a high-relief depiction of a steam locomotive over a textured map of the contiguous United States, inscribed AMERICAN FREEDOM TRAIN with a group of stars along the bottom border. The medal reverse features a dual-figure motif of a Revolutionary War soldier and a modern astronaut, inscribed BICENTENNIAL JOURNEY, 1776, and 1976. The American Freedom Train logo appears at the base of the reverse design. The lot is contained within a cardboard box marked PCH-2061. Burns in-house shipping is available. Pickup is Thursday, May 28 from 11 am to 7 pm at our gallery in Lancaster, Ohio 43130 or we will provide in-house shipping for this item.
