A Collection of US Civil War and World War II Veteran Grave Marker Flag Holders - This collection includes several cast metal cemetery grave markers and flag holders used to honor the service of American veterans. The grouping represents veterans from the American Civil War and World War II. Included are three five-pointed star-shaped markers. One star features a central medallion embossed with G A R and 1861 1865, identifying it with the Grand Army of the Republic, a fraternal organization for Union veterans. A second star of similar design is embossed with VETERAN and 1861 1865. Both of these markers feature a clear manufacturer stamp on the reverse for the Benton Emblem Co., Trenton, N.J. A third cast iron star marker is embossed with G. A. R. VETERAN 1861-65 and is decorated with smaller raised stars on each point. Also included is a circular cast bronze marker featuring a central American bald eagle, with the outer ring embossed WORLD WAR and 1941 - 1945. These markers are designed with integrated loops on the reverse to hold small American flags and are mounted on long iron or steel rods. Four of the markers in the lot retain their mounting rods.
